Today’s topic is all about when the narcissist is ignoring you. I will not be covering ghosting, where the narcissist disappears and leaves you hanging, but instead, presenteeism, where they are very present but make you feel as if you do not exist. Also, it’s not really about the silent treatment, which usually stems from a disagreement or an offense, where the narcissist uses it to punish someone in order to control or manipulate them.
Today, I am talking about ignoring in the context of what narcissists do to their so-called friends, family members, workmates, and new interests as a test. This is where they make a point of not responding to your calls or text messages, avoiding talking to you in public situations, or if you speak to them, they do not give you eye contact, look past you, or quickly brush you off.
Some people may wonder what this means. Personally, I wouldn’t care if a narcissist ignored me. I would happily ignore them this means. Personally, I wouldn’t care if a narcissist ignored me. I would happily ignore them. But I understand the curiosity that may arise when confronted with this type of behavior. What I’m going to talk about can relate to narcissists or anyone who thinks they can just ignore you.
