A narcissist tends to see you as a threat.

Narcissists hide many things, bury them very deep, and never want you to discover them. It’s not uncommon for a narcissist to see everyone else as a threat. They have a high degree of paranoia and are constantly afraid that their cherished persona, which is fake, will be discovered. Therefore, they’re constantly on alert and desperately need to be in control so that they can build a safe sanctuary for themselves.

Their lives are all competition, and they always feel that people are constantly watching and waiting for them to reveal their secrets. They always hide this paranoia under a charismatic façade, so it won’t be easy to realize how much they underestimate and distrust people unless you get close enough to them. But again, they’re always alert to people, so it won’t be easy to approach them. They often project their fear onto others, believing that everyone is just as vulnerable as them, and it’s either they destroy others first or they are destroyed later. For them, it’s part of the game, where everyone is playing their part. So, they need to strike first.

They think everyone is like them, so they want to take advantage of others by deceiving and manipulating them so they can gain the upper hand. It’s a competition; it’s about beating their opponents, keeping their guard up, and making everybody trust them while never trusting anyone.
