Top 10 Most Common LIES of the Narcissist

3. They lie about their ex-partners being crazy, jealous, abusive, or obsessed with them.

This is a significant red flag and part of the narcissist’s toolbox for triangulating the new supply with the old supply. By exploiting pity and sympathy from the new supply, they make them feel sorry for having such a “crazy” ex. This serves two purposes: gaining narcissistic supply from the new target and creating an insurance policy against the old supply warning the new supply about their true nature. Believing the narcissist’s lie about the “crazy ex” can prevent the new supply from trusting any warnings from the ex.

4. Narcissists lie or exaggerate the importance of their job, position, or title.

They may claim to own the company they work for, be the CEO, or the right-hand person to the boss, suggesting they are the brains behind the business’s success. In reality, they may have a far less significant role and earn a fraction of what they imply. Their relationship with superiors or colleagues might also be minimal.

5. They lie about their finances, including their income, wealth, or family’s wealth.

They may boast about their financial status, implying that they are wealthy and powerful or expecting a substantial inheritance. In truth, they might be financially struggling. Narcissists will say anything to support their false self-image as wealthy and accomplished individuals.
