The Narcissist’s Hidden Side

Their image, their relationships, and their addictions are all just a bandaid to conceal the deep depression that they have. And ultimately, this hidden depression is why they hate people who are genuinely happy, free-spirited, and authentic. Because they know that no matter how much they pretend and no matter how much they gain or achieve, nothing seems to help them achieve happiness.

So, the only thing left is to try and make others miserable. Misery loves company, and the narcissist prefers to see others miserable, hurt, and unhappy instead of them enjoying life. Some people find it hard to believe that a narcissist they know might actually be suffering from depression as they seem to have it all and are always smiling. But this is why it is referred to as “hidden depression” because they are capable of making it so well. But when someone is secretly paranoid, unsatisfied, ashamed, insecure, and more, how could they not be depressed? We need to understand that a part of the narcissist’s game is to fake everything.

Their aim is to convince others that they are something they are not. And anything that does not complement that phony image must be buried or hidden from the general public. But to conclude, narcissists, do suffer from depression.
