Getting called out on their lies.
Narcissists are pathological liars. Basically, if a narcissist’s mouth is moving, you can be guaranteed they are lying. They lie so consistently to anyone and everyone about something or other, sometimes even for fun or sport to see if you fall for it so they can bask in their superiority and wittiness. However, they are constantly worried about someone figuring out their lies. They try to recall all the lies they may have told you when they first interacted with you after lying to you so they can keep their stories straight. But even if they can’t keep their stories straight, they will simply cover up that lie with another lie and gaslight the person they lied to in some manner to make them think their recollection is wrong.”
