That’s why their love felt hollow in the end—because every time they tried to reflect your light, it exposed their darkness, and that made them sick with self-hate. First, they blamed themselves; then they turned that blame towards you; and then they vanished, ghosted, jumped to the next among them—not because you failed, but because you reminded them of what they’ll never become.
