Do narcissists care about you? Only as a source of “supply”—the attention, praise, or drama that feeds their ego. This supply is their emotional oxygen, and they’ll manipulate, love-bomb, or guilt-trip to secure it.
How they harvest supply:
- Adoration: Compliments, flattery, and social media likes validate their false self.
- Pity: Playing the victim earns sympathy and loyalty.
- Control: Provoking jealousy (e.g., triangulation) or fear keeps people emotionally invested.
The dark twist: Narcissists also crave negative supply. Betrayal, conflict, or reducing someone to tears gives them a twisted sense of power. Hurting others becomes proof of their dominance.

- Compete: They measure success by outearning or outperforming others—even friends or family.
Yet, no amount of money satisfies them. Their hunger grows because material gains can’t heal their shame or self-doubt.
