Narcissists Were Once Gifted Beings | What Went Wrong

Now, tell me, doesn’t that sound exactly like what happens with a narcissist? Narcissists are masters of persuasion. They know how to charm, how to manipulate, and how to get what they want. They’re often highly intelligent, as I already explained, but instead of using that intelligence to contribute to the world, they use it to exploit others. Not every narcissist starts off as a villain. Some were brilliant, intuitive, and full of potential. They could have been healers, leaders, and innovators. Instead of using their intelligence for creation, they used it for manipulation. Instead of using their charm to uplift, they used it to deceive. Instead of using their insights to heal, they used them to harm. The devil does not create; he only corrupts. Narcissists follow the same pattern. They take what could have been beautiful and twist it into something sinister.

And the worst part? It is all a choice. People often wonder: were narcissists born this way, or did something happen that made them like this? The answer is both. Just like Satan had free will, so did they. Many narcissists were wounded as children. We can acknowledge that. They were unloved, abandoned, and deeply shamed, but not everyone who suffers like them becomes a narcissist. In fact, most do not. Some take their pain and become healers, while others take their pain and become destroyers. The difference? Choice.

At some point, the narcissist made a decision—conscious or unconscious—that they would never be vulnerable again. That they would never bow, never admit their weaknesses, never allow anyone to have power over them. And in doing so, they cut themselves off from love, from truth, from God. That is why their intelligence, which was once a gift, becomes a weapon of deception. That is why their charm, once a way to connect, becomes a way to ensnare. That is why their insight, once a source of wisdom, becomes a tool for gaslighting and control. They took what was meant to be holy and turned it into something unholy, just like the devil himself.
