Narcissists possess a provoking demonic spirit that knows how to instigate you, identifying the precise buttons to push to bring out the worst in you. This spirit’s aim is to force you to act out of character. Why? Because when you do, you lose integrity. When you calm down, self-loathing sets in—you wonder, “How could I say such a thing?”—and embarrassment overtakes you. This is when the spirit rejoices: “Mission accomplished.”
The spirit is cunning yet weak. It plays shady games but refuses responsibility. The moment your rage is unleashed, it retreats, and the narcissist seamlessly transforms into the victim. They adopt a “puppy-eyed” demeanor, exclaiming, “I don’t know why you’re acting this way. Look at me, everyone—see how I’m being targeted! I don’t know what I’ve done to deserve this.” This clever manipulation garners sympathy and gaslights you, reversing the narrative and turning the tables.
The Demonic Aspect of Narcissism
When I discuss narcissism and demonic spirits, I am not absolving narcissists of responsibility. I am not suggesting they are controlled by an external force and have no choice. What I mean is that there is a demonic influence that amplifies the harm caused by their choices—choices to lie, manipulate, gaslight, and inflict pain. This whispering voice becomes more powerful over a soul that has already abandoned the light.
One specific demonic entity that often dominates a narcissist’s psyche is the provoking spirit. Its mission is to instigate, ensuring a reaction to the narcissist’s abuse. This spirit helps narcissists pretend to be victims and make their abuse appear clean and calculated. It whispers, “You can never be wrong. You can never make a mistake. They’re jealous of you—attack them!” The narcissist then provokes their target and revels in their reaction, finding satisfaction in controlling their emotions.
