The narcissist never really moves on. They go from one supply to the next, but they are always watching what you are doing. They observe to see if you can rebuild your life after they have destroyed it or if you can put yourself in a better position.
They always want to be with someone who is the most successful, the most physically attractive, and the person who has the most power to direct others’ behavior and the course of events. That is the kind of person they want to be around.
When the narcissist first met you, you might have had a lot of power. You had the ability to make things happen and may have been very physically attractive. However, as the narcissist began to drain you of your resources, you started to lose your power. When they began abusing you, stressing you out, and making you feel anxious or depressed, that is when you began to lose your looks. You might have gained or lost weight, and you started feeling tired all the time. At this point, you may feel like you’re no good for anyone—not just the narcissist, although narcissists can never be satisfied.
Once the narcissist has drained you of your energy and resources and beaten you down to the point where you no longer look good, now you are no good for anyone. The narcissist wants to be around someone who everyone else desires. They used you for everything you had to offer and then left you because you were no longer of any use to them.
