They thrive on conflict, chaos, and competition since it’s one of their many ways to manipulate people, even from a distance. But guess what? It’s not just through social media. Even texts can become part of their game, often through a tactic called triangulation. It’s when they bring a third person into the mix, usually by comparing or contrasting someone with another person. The goal is to make the individuals feel isolated, doubtful, or even jealous. By creating tension between those people, it becomes easier for the narcissist to manipulate and control them. This is why they are often at the center of all the drama. They stir the pot, pit people against each other, and keep control over the situation because, deep down, those actions are fueled by a fear of being seen as flawed. By creating division, they can boost their ego and maintain control over the people they rely on for validation and emotional support.
Number 3: They fixate on their image of perfection. Did you know that narcissists spend a lot of time in self-admiration? They get stuck in their own heads, thinking about their achievements, how great they are, and how important they believe they are. When they’re alone, they often think about things to boost their ego, like daydreaming about their big successes or replaying moments where they felt on top. These fantasies usually focus on how they think these things will finally make people give them the admiration they crave. And that’s not all. As they engage in self-admiration, they also tend to seek validation from others. This is why they’ll soon start texting or calling someone to brag about their wins and keep their self-esteem pumped up.
