After all has been said and done, the last question that many people want answered is: Can narcissists be attached to anyone? Experts suggest that “attachment” may not be the best term to describe when a narcissist becomes fond of you. A better term might be “addiction.” Narcissists can easily detach themselves from others in an instant without emotional baggage because they think differently from most people. Their attachment to someone can often be interpreted as a form of obsession or hoovering.
Narcissists are individuals who act without mercy toward others, using people much like we use clothing—ever-changing and disposable. For these reasons, being attached to a narcissist can be a disadvantage for you. Do not let anyone else decide your worth or who you should be. Narcissists will be fine; don’t worry about them. Instead, focus on doing the most helpful thing you can do: look out for the targets of narcissists.
