They hate what they see in the mirror—that’s the truth—because it reminds them of the version of themselves that got exposed, rejected, discarded, or left behind. So they try on new identities like they try on new clothes: Monday a minimalist, Tuesday an entrepreneur, Wednesday a yogi, Thursday an artist.
