Never Start with “Could You”
Avoid starting your request with the words “could you.” This can cause the other person to subconsciously assume that it is a theoretical question. For example, instead of asking, “Could you call the neighbors?” which might result in a hesitant “yes,” rephrase your request to “Please call the neighbors” to ensure it will be fulfilled.
Make Someone Feel Uncomfortable
If you ever want to make someone feel uncomfortable, look at the middle of their forehead during the conversation. Most people report feeling scrutinized, which doesn’t exactly help them relax. Not sure why you’d want to do this, but the situation may arise.
Tell the Truth
If someone you’re talking to is trying to avoid answering a question, pause in the conversation while maintaining eye contact. This will make them feel uncomfortable, prompting them to continue talking. Chances are they’ll provide more details, and they may even confess the truth if they were lying, believing your silence indicates you already know the facts.
